In 2013, a group of American and Senegalese students, dentists, and healthcare workers came together with hopes of improving access to oral healthcare for the population of Senegal. Their mutual commitment to the betterment of their communities led them to organize yearly free dental clinics focusing on treatment of acute dental problems, preventive procedures, and community education in the capital city of Dakar.

Fast forward 7 years, and A Simple Smile Organization was born. Since our humble beginnings in 2013, our goals have evolved. We have refined our focus to rural areas of Senegal and other regions of the world where routine oral healthcare is inaccessible. Although we will continue to treat acute and chronic oral diseases, we are putting prevention, community education and training at the forefront of our mission.
